Victim’s Real Mother: Gloria Williams Deserves to Die for Kidnapping My Baby

Kamiyah Mobley, who was stolen away from a hospital as a newborn by a woman posing as a nurse and did not learn until she was 18 years old that her life as Alexis Manigo was a lie, will receive justice at last.

Mobley’s biological mother Shanara Mobley on Thursday spoke at the sentencing of Gloria Williams and she said that if it was her choice, Williams would be sentenced to death.

Shanara Mobley said that being reunited with her daughter was “the happiest day of my life.” She said that 18 years of heartbreak and annual celebrations of Kamiyah’s birthday, still believing she was alive, culminated with a meeting and an instant recognition that Kamiyah resembled her in every way.

“Her walk, everything [about her] is me,” Mobley said on the stand.

With Williams sitting just feet away, she said, “She’s not sorry, so why should we have mercy on her soul?”

She also said Williams’ kidnapping crime, robbing Kamiyah from her birth parents and raising her as her own for nearly two decades, is a crime that she believes should be punished by death.

Williams, who pleaded guilty, is facing a maximum of 22 years in prison.

Interestingly enough, Mobley’s daughter had a different response in 2017. As Alexis Manigo, she told Good Morning America that while she knows what Williams did was wrong she still “loved me for 18 years. She cared for me for 18 years.”

“Don’t lock her up and throw away the key,” she said.
