Environmentalists Carve Bizarre Message Into Trump Golf Course (WATCH)

A band of environmentalists infiltrated the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California over the weekend, and recorded their exploits on video. The group carved a giant, strange message into the grass that said, “NO MORE TIGERS NO MORE WOODS,” a play on famed pro golfer Tiger Woods‘ name that is reportedly a commentary on the federal government’s attitude towards nature.

The group explained their actions to The Washington Post, saying that it was a reaction to President Donald Trump‘s administration’s stance on the environment. In a statement, the group said:

In response to the president’s recent decision to gut our existing protection policies, direct action was conceived and executed on the green of his California golf course in the form of a simple message: NO MORE TIGERS. NO MORE WOODS.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that they received a call early Sunday about the grounds of the club being dug up, and they sent a deputy to investigate. At the time, officials were looking into the nature of the damage, and whether it was accidental or vandalism, but the people behind it aren’t hiding what they’ve done.

One of the culprits told the Post that they and their three cohorts scaled a fence to access the property, then used gardening tools to carve the words. The task reportedly took under an hour. “Tearing up the golf course felt justified in many ways,” they said. “Repurposing what was once a beautiful stretch of land into a playground for the privileged is an environmental crime in its own right.”
