A second attempted terror attack in Spain was largely thwarted by the actions of one Spanish police officer.
Catalan’s Mossos d’Esquadra (“The Mossos”) force confirmed that one female Spanish cop was solely responsible for taking out four of the five terrorists who attacked a pedestrian area in Cambrils.
The suspects rammed their Audi A3 into a crowd of people at the popular resort town of Cambrils–roughly 68 miles south-west of Barcelona. The alleged terrorists appear to have been wearing suicide vests and wielded both guns and machetes.
One woman was killed and six others were wounded in the attack–which mirrored the horrific events eight hours earlier in Barcelona and Charlottesville, Virginia late last week.
In videos of the attack, gunshots can be heard as multiple inert bodies are seen scattered across a promenade. Survivors shout “Look, look, they had explosives!” and run for cover behind a small concrete wall.
The fifth alleged terrorist escaped only briefly before being shot dead by another officer. Video of one of the suspects being killed is available here.
As of yet unnamed, the lone female cop who saved the day is now receiving counseling and is scheduled to go on vacation.
