Omar Mateen, the man responsible for the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history after he killed 50 people when he opened fire on an LGBT nightclub in Orlando, legally purchased the two gun used in the attack.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms just confirmed the weapons were legally purchased in the weeks leading up to the shooting:

The Orlando Police Department sent out a tweet shortly after, clarifying the timeline of the weapons purchases:
ATF: The gunman legally purchased the firearms within the last week. In Florida.
