Remember Kenneth Lijah Duyck? Law&Crime wrote about him back in April of last year. The Oregon man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a horse. That case closed this week.

Duyck was found guilty on Friday, Jan. 18, of charges of sexual assault of an animal and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to Oregon court records obtained by Law&Crime. Duyck was sentenced to 20 months in prison on Tuesday. Two charges of burglary in the second degree were dropped. Duyck is also scheduled for two years of post-prison supervision.

The 21-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty back on May 2.

At the time of his arrest, deputies said a woman reported finding her horse in her stable “tied up in an unusual way,”according to court documents obtained by KPTV. She said she sent a picture of the animal to her veterinarian daughter, and the younger woman said it looked like a person had a sexual interaction with the horse.

Deputies said that the first woman also told them about a call from a man (Duyck). This conversation happened before the abuse. The defendant asked if he could camp on her property. She turned him down, but later saw a “homeless-looking” individual speaking to her neighbors.

Deputies said that he admitted to the sexual assault when they found him sleeping in a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot. According to them, he suggested that he had never done anything like that before, and that he may have done it this time because he wasn’t on his medication. DNA evidence connected Duyck to the horse, deputies said.

According to OregonLive, Duyck was banned from owning horses or “domestic animals” for a decade-and-a-half and must register as a sex offender.
