A Florida driver mowed down a Cracker Barrel employee in the restaurant parking lot in an apparent road rage incident, and is still on the loose, authorities say. According to deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony Luis Cruz cut off the unknown assailant, who was driving a white Nissan Versa, and then the other vehicle followed him to his workplace.
Security video from the parking lot of the Kissimmee establishment showed captured the incident, which took place on July 19. Footage shows Cruz parking his car, with the white Nissan pulling up behind and to the left of him. When Cruz got out of his car and crossed in front of the other car, the driver plowed right over him, sped out of the parking lot, and took off.
“He just floored it right at me and ran me over,” Cruz told WFTV.
Cruz suffered collapsed lungs, broken ribs, and road rash, according to law enforcement officials. He was treated at a hospital, but is now in stable condition and recovering at home, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office told the Orlando Sentinel.
