The parents of Casey Anthony, whose lives were turned upside down when their granddaughter Caylee disappeared and died and their daughter was charged with first degree murder and eventually acquitted, visibly struggled to get through part of an interfering during A&E’s special Casey Anthony’s Parents Speak. The tense interview, a two-hour special that aired on Monday, reached its boiling point when Cindy Anthony stormed off the set, this after her husband George told her to “shut up.”

At one point in the interview with Elizabeth Vargas, George mentions Casey stole from them and Cindy responded by saying like father, like daughter.
“George, Casey learned by example […] You lied to me for several years, and that’s where our daughter got it,” she said. The situation escalated from there.
George then recalled what it was like in the immediate aftermath of his granddaughters death. Cindy says “It’s very traumatic to me ’cause you’re making me relive everything again. Who wants to relive their granddaughter’s death every f—ing — I mean, damn it!””
As George dwells on certain memories in detail for a period of time, Cindy urges him to get to the end of it. George tells her to “shut up. Please.”
“Oh, I’m done. I’m done. Don’t ever tell me to shut up,” she says in a raised voice.
“You know something I let you explain everything in as much detail but you won’t let me,” George answered.
“You’re going in too much [detail],” she said. “This is hard for both of us and you’re going into way too long of a story and way too much detail.”
Casey Anthony was acquitted in 2011 despite much of the public being convinced that she did kill her daughter. One detail often mentioned was that Anthony waited a month before reporting her daughter missing. Six months later, Caylee’s remains were found in plastic bags not far from her home. The ensuing acquittal was a decision jurors said they were “sick” over.
Anthony has even acknowledged publicly that she understands “why people have the opinions that they do” and said she wasn’t sure “what happened.”
“Caylee would be 12 right now. And would be a total badass,” she once told the Associated Press. “I’d like to think she’d be listening to classic rock, playing sports.”
“I’m still not even certain as I stand here today about what happened,” she said.”Based off what was in the media, I understand the reasons people feel about me. I understand why people have the opinions that they do.”
