The son of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock didn’t exactly react well when he was pulled over for speeding earlier this year, according to police body camera footage. The video, obtained by local Denver7, shows Jordan Hancock cursing and threatening an Aurora police officer who stopped him for speeding.
The younger Hancock apparently didn’t appreciate being pulled over.
“My dad’s the mayor, you fucking f–got,” he yelled at the officer, who replied, “Of Denver? Well, you’re in Aurora.”
Perhaps the officer’s response didn’t register, because Hancock later threatened the officer’s job.
“Don’t worry about it, bitch,” he said, adding, “Guess what, I’m about to get you fired you fucking bitch.”
Mayor Hancock’s office said in a statement:
We addressed this matter with Jordan and he has apologized to the Officer. While we do not support nor condone his inexcusable actions and words during this traffic stop, we love our son dearly and support him.
Hancock appeared in court for the speeding ticket on Monday and paid a $250 fine. He told the judge that the reason he was driving so fast was because he was running late.
The footage was leaked to the local television station from an unknown source. The Aurora police declined to release the full video when the station requested it. They said in a statement:
We will be conducting an internal investigation into this matter to determine the circumstances under which this video was released. Any member who is found to have violated departmental policies and procedures will be held accountable.
