So went out for a 2am snack and my friend (wearing a MAGA hat) had his hat stolen and a drink thrown in his face (and mine, you can see my arms on the left of the video) pic.twitter.com/B3QjBFIxPk

A 16-year-old from San Antonio claims he was verbally assaulted and attacked in a Whataburger restaurant for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in support of President Donald J. Trump.
Hunter Richards filmed the incident, where an unidentified man threw a drink into his face and stole the MAGA hat while deriding Richards, saying, “You ain’t supporting shit, n—–.” Richards also alleges that his hair was pulled during the incident and has filed a police report.
Richards commented on the assault, saying to News 4 San Antonio, “I support my President and if you don’t let’s have a conversation about it instead of ripping my hat off. I just think a conversation about politics is more productive for the entire whole rather than taking my hat and yelling subjective words to me.”
The video has since gone viral, being viewed over 1.4 million times. Originally posted to Twitter, the video has garnered mixed reactions, some in support of Richards and others in support of the unidentified man.
“I didn’t think it was going to generate the amount like what people are doing, I was looking at the comments by some people,” Richards said, “they are like ‘this is uncalled for,’ and other people are like mixed opinions but I didn’t think it would blow up to what it is now.”
The account that originally posted the video, which claims to be managed by a friend of Richards, says Richards won’t press charges. The Twitter user said that the unidentified man was found, and lost his job, and was arrested in the early hours of July 5, 2018.
