Two juries will hear the case. One for Kenneth Williams and another for Mickieal Ward. Prosecutors say they were gang members, and that Ward fired the weapon before Williams drove the getaway car. They were allegedly driving through an area controlled by a rival gang, and Pendleton was not meant to be a target.
Ward’s defense attorney claims this is a matter of mistaken identity, that Ward was not the killer, and that police coerced him into giving a false confession.
