Melissa Smith was NOT letting go of her SUV. She jumped on it rather than let a carjacker get away, according to a WISN report.

“Which isn’t the smartest or safest thing, but it was–I went with my instinct,” she said.

She said she was filling up at a BP gas station in Milwaukee, Minnesota on Tuesday. Surveillance footage shows a Cadillac pulling up, and a man sneaking up to her car. The alleged thief got behind the wheel.

“Didn’t see him ’til I saw him get into my car,” she said. “Someone was in my car, and I had my, ‘Oh hell, this isn’t happening to me today’ moment.”

She jumped on the hood. The driver, Smith said, was laughing as he hit the breaks twice–He was trying to throw her off. “Zero remorse,” she said

The man gave up and escaped from the still moving vehicle into his own getaway car with at least one accomplice. Meanwhile, Smith got off the car and back in the driver’s seat. The thief allegedly ran off with her purse, iPhone, and wallet.

LawNewz.com reached out to the Milwaukee Police Department for more information, but have not received any statement at this time.
