WATCH LIVE: Former Police Officer Ray Tensing Murder Trial Live Day 6

The trial of former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing is underway and you can watch every minute of courtroom action live on LawNewz.com (video above will be live when court is in session).

Tensing is charged in connection with the shooting death of motorist Sam DuBose during a traffic stop near the University of Cincinnati campus in July 2015.  Body cam video of the incident will likely prove to play a crucial role at trial.

On Monday, the prosecution rested after calling the final witness in their case in chief, Hamilton County Deputy Coroner Karen Looman.  She testified that the bullet fired at DuBose immediately traveled trough his brain stem, ending all voluntary movement.  The testimony was offered to support the prosecution’s theory that Tensing shot DuBose before his vehicle moved forward.  Tensing’s attorneys have always argued he only fired after being dragged by DuBose’s moving vehicle.

After the prosecution rested, Tensing’s defense team called its first few witnesses who spoke to their perceptions of Tensing’s state of mind after the shooting.  Both witnesses were officer who responding to radio calls about the shooting.  The prosecution chose not to cross-examine any of the defense witnesses who testified early Monday afternoon.

Judge Megan Shanahan also released an alternate juror on Monday.  The juror reportedly expressed privacy and safety concerns after a media outlet requested the release of jurors questionnaires.

Court will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.  It is still unclear whether officer Tensing will take the stand in his own defense.
