Representatives for Dr. David Dao, the man who was physically pulled out of his seat and dragged down the aisle of a United Airlines plane after a flight was overbooked, will address the media at a news conference Thursday morning. The conference will take place at 11:00 am ET/10 CT.
Video of the incident went viral earlier this week, after passengers aboard the flight recorded agents physically removing Dao from the aircraft. Dao’s attorney, Thomas Demetrio, filed a petition in state court against United Airlines and the City of Chicago, seeking that records related to the incident be preseved, including a list of passengers and flight crew, surveillance video, police personnel files, and any incident reports.
United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz apologized for the incident in an interview with “Good Morning America,” but did not admit wrongdoing by the individuals involved. Munoz called it “a system failure,” taking responsibility for needing to expand company policies to prevent something like this from happening again to a paid seated passenger. When asked if he thought Dr. Dao was at fault in any way for what happened, Munoz paused, but then admitted, “No, he can’t be.”
