Warning: Footage is violent and disturbing.
New York man Jauan Blume, 21, robbed a man Tuesday, but in turn, he received a brutal beating at the hands of a mob, and possibly even shot himself by accident, said NYPD cops.
The available footage definitely qualifies as wild. Blume and an accomplice held up a 32-year-old man in the Bronx on Tuesday night at about 8:20 p.m., according to police in a New York Post report. They allegedly wanted his jewelry.
Surveillance video shows a man in white (allegedly Blume) holding a man in a black shirt up to the hood of a vehicle. The accomplice stands by in a red shirt, holding his arm out.
Blume and the man in black begin to fight, and according to police, the victim ended up getting shot in the leg and grazed in the eyebrow.
The man in red eventually runs off, but that’s not the end of the video. More people arrive at the scene. They weren’t on Blume’s side. You can see them apparently striking multiple times. One person appears to step away briefly only to charge again with a running kick (1:37).
The beating continues for quiet a while. It’s even uglier close up. Snapchat footage obtained by the Post shows Blume laying back, prone and bloody on the street. A person stomps his face (2:56).
“Thou shall not try to ROB ANYONE ON MY BLOCK with a GUN,” said in an emoji-laden post. “Now u LEGEND … Ya other boy ran on you ya big dummy.”
Blume was treated for a body trauma and a gunshot wound to the forearm at St. Barnabas Hospital, police said. They suggested that shot was self-inflicted by accident. He was charged with robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. Seems like he might face this case alone. His accomplice remains identified, and cops said they’re not looking for anymore suspects.
Authorities explained the victim is cooperating with investigators. He got his jewelry back, and was treated at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital.
