It seemed like the entire restaurant got involved when a fight broke out early Wednesday morning at McDonald’s. Police in Santa Monica, California say a security guard at one location was just doing his job when at least one man started to fight him.
Police Lt. Saul Rodriguez told ABC 7 that the guard told two men sleeping inside that they either had to buy something, or leave. This escalated into a full-on fight, he said.
Footage shows the guard struggling with the men as other customers attempt to stop it. One of the suspects allegedly got his hands on the guard’s baton. A bystander, who was wearing an orange shirt, apparently tried to help out by swinging a chair at one of the attacker’s. The fight spilled outside.
The guard turned down medical attention at the scene, according to the outlet.
So far there’s been one arrest: one man, apparently homeless, faces one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Police are investigating to see if more charges will be filed against other people.
Police have increased presence at this McDonald’s since it is a site for regular problems, they told ABC.
