Three intruders broke into the wrong home on Monday in Broken Arrow, OK and they all ended up dead at the hands of the homeowner’s son, who police say shot all three men dead with a semiautomatic rifle. Local law enforcement authorities are calling the the shootings an act of self defense and no charges will be filed against the 23-year-old son of the homeowner.
The victims, according to The Washington Post, are all teenagers. A 16-year-old, a 17-year-old, and another man thought to be either 18 or 19-year-old. Cops say they smashed down the back door of the home, wearing ski masks in what police believe was a planned burglary. Two of the intruders were reportedly armed, one carried a knife and another a pair of brass knuckles.
What the perps did not expect, however, was the homeowner’s son, armed with the rifle and prepared to use it. Police say there was a brief exchange of words between the four people before the son opened fire with an AR-15 rifle.
“Upon making entry to the home one of the residents fired a rifle striking all three of the suspects,” police said in a statement obtained by LawNewz, “2 of the suspects died inside the home while one was able to run to the driveway before succumbing to his injuries.”
A few hours later, investigators announced they arrested a fourth individual involved in the incident. Elizabeth Rodriguez, the apparent getaway driver, was booked on charges of three counts of first degree murder, and three counts of burglary. She is likely to be charged under the felony murder statute that essentially makes all parties to the crime liable for a death if it occurs during a felony.
