Video has surfaced of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones making a bizarre and racially-charged comment at a wedding.
In the video, obtained by The Blast, Jones looks directly into the camera and over the muffled noise of celebratory music in the background, says:
Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding–wedding! Now, you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?
The outspoken Cowboys-owning billionaire then looks down, laughs and appears to good-naturedly nod to– and pat–a black man in his immediate vicinity.
Both men walk away from the cameraman, who says, “Right here, Jerry.”
The wedding is said to have occurred–and the video was reportedly shot–at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas in 2013.
According to The Blast, Jones’ comments were directed toward “a white fan.”
Jones responded to the video’s circulation by issuing a statement to the Dallas Morning News. He said, “That comment was inappropriate. It’s not who I am, and I’m sorry.”
