O.J. Simpson will be up for parole at a hearing next week (we will carry it live on the LawNewz Network), after serving nine out of a possible 33 years in prison for a 2008 robbery and kidnapping conviction. Now, accomplices in the 2007 Las Vegas heist, are discussing what happened that day as part of a “20/20” special. A preview of the interviews aired Friday morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
The main takeaway from the snippets in the preview is that Simpson really didn’t think he’d get in trouble when he and his friends busted into a hotel room and held other people at gunpoint while taking sports memorabilia.
“I said ‘So O.J., what if they call the police?'” Simpson’s friend Walter Alexander recalled. “And he looked at me and he used a four letter word that starts with F and ends with K, the police. ‘What they gonna do? Take me to jail for taking my own stuff?'” Audio from the hotel day captured Simpson laughing. “It was all funny to him,” Alexander said.
Simpson will appear before the parole board via video conference. He was already been granted parole for the kidnapping, robbery, and burglary charges in 2013, but continues to serve his sentence for assault with a deadly weapon.
