Woman Gets Wasted on First Date, Wrecks Lawyer’s Andy Warhol Painting, Prosecutors Say

You think you have some bad first date stories? Lindy Lou Layman has you beat, and it’s not even close. The Texas woman met prominent local attorney Anthony Buzbee for a romantic evening last weekend, and by the end of the night she had been arrested on felony charges for allegedly getting drunk and damaging an original Andy Warhol painting.

According to prosecutors, the pair had returned to Buzbee’s lavish home in River Oaks, but the lawyer called her an Uber to take her home because she was so intoxicated. When she allegedly hid in the house, refusing to leave, he called another Uber, but that just set her off even more.

Layman allegedly went on a rampage, screamed, “I’m not leaving,” poured red wine on the aforementioned Warhol and two other paintings, and tore them off the wall. She’s also accused of throwing and shattering two sculptures. When she was first arrested, the damage was estimated at more than $300,000, according to court records viewed by Law&Crime, but a later report has that number at about $1.5 million.

Layman was released on $30,000 bail and has court date set for January 9, 2018.

Local KHOU reached out to Buzbee for comment, he told the outlet he didn’t know the woman, despite the incident allegedly taking place at his home.

Buzbee, a trial attorney and Marine veteran, is well known in his community, having once parked a tank outside his home. He also hosted a fundraiser for then-candidate Donald Trump at the mansion last year.
