(1) Does the state require everyone to report child abuse, including sex abuse?  Yes. “An individual who has reason to believe that a child is a victim of child abuse or neglect shall make a report.”

(2) Does the law require coaches to report child abuse? Yes, because everyone is required to report.

(3) Does the law require college staff to report child abuse? Yes, because everyone is required to report.

(4) Does the law allow jail time for those who fail to properly report abuse? Yes; the penalty is a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Indiana requires some individuals to provide multiple layers of reports to the state and to the administrators of certain institutions. Failing to make the multiple layers of reports can result in multiple penalties.
