College Football Player Pleads with Cops Not to Ruin Teammate’s Career (VIDEO)

Georgia Bulldogs players Natrez Patrick and Jayson Stanley were arrested during a traffic stop over the weekend. Today, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage of that arrest.

In the video, Stanley pleads with the officers on the scene to reconsider their decision because an arrest for Patrick would seemingly gut the junior’s football career. Stanley vainly implores the officers not to move forward with their drug-related charges. He says:

Please, please, please, please, please. If you’ve got a heart, if you have a heart, please listen. Hear me. That’s the end for him, man. He’s going to jail for this? That’s it, man. That’s his career. That’s that man’s life. That’s his family.

The officers were apparently unmoved. The video ends with Patrick and Stanley being led inside the Barrow County Detention Center for processing.

Stanley’s take on his teammate’s future is likely on-point; Saturday night’s incident was Patrick’s third drug-related arrest. A prior misdemeanor charge led to his suspension earlier this season. Patrick, a linebacker, did play in Georgia’s SEC Championship victory on the day of the arrest.

Both he and Stanley, a reserve wide receiver, were ultimately arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges. Stanley was also charged with DUI and speeding.

According to Dawg Nation, when later apprised of the charges against his players, Georgia Bulldogs Coach Kirby Smart said, “Natrez and Jayson, obviously I’m disappointed in some of the actions there. But we still don’t have all the information completely in from that. So their discipline will be handled internally.”
