Accused double murderer Markeith Loyd is back in court Tuesday. The defense says they will not be ready for trial on May 6. Loyd’s new attorney has only been representing him for eight months.
Loyd was arrested in Jan. 2017 on murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon in 2016, and the 2017 shooting death of Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton. Loyd was caught after a 9 day manhunt.
Loyd was originally scheduled to go to trial in September pending Dixon’s killing, to be followed by the trial for the officer’s death.
