The trial of David “DJ” Creato Jr. continues Thursday morning in Camden County, New Jersey. Creato is accused of murdering his 3-year-old son Brendan and leaving the body in a park on October 13, 2015. Creato, who maintains his innocence, was the one who reported his son’s disappearance that morning. Authorities found Brendan’s body a few hours later, at a location just a few blocks from their apartment. Prosecutors say half of Brendan’s body had been submerged in a creek, and that he died from either drowning or smothering.
Part 2:
On Wednesday, the court viewed video of Creato’s interview with police, including when Creato was first told that his son was found deceased. He reacted by saying, “No, no, no ,no,” repeatedly, and prosecutors believe that his response was rehearsed. Creato’s defense insists that he was legitimately and sincerely distraught. When discussing possible explanations for Brendan’s disappearance Creato said, “I can’t think of anything.”
Investigators questioned Creato about his relationship with girlfriend Julia Stensky. At first, Creato said things were going well with the 17-year-old, but then acknowledged that during the previous weekend, she threatened to break up with him twice over his son. “She doesn’t want anything to do with him,” Creato said about Stensky. Prosecutors believe Creato killed Brendan to appease her.
Court is scheduled to resume at 9:00 am ET Thursday morning.
