The murder trial of Justin Ross Harris, who is accused of intentionally leaving his 22-month-old son, Cooper, in a hot car to die, continues.
Harris is facing eight charges, including malice murder, felony murder and child cruelty. He is also facing charges for allegedly sexting underage girls on the day his son was left to die in the parking lot of the Home Depot Corporate Headquarters in Cobb County, Georgia. Harris claims that he is innocent and this was all a tragic accident.
On Thursday, the defense called Dr. Gene Brewer as an expert witness. Dr. Brewer talked about memory, and how people or subject to forgetting what they’re doing if their engaged in a routine activity or are sleep deprived. This was meant to explain how it would be possible for Harris to simply forget to drop Cooper off at daycare on his way to work the morning his son died.

Testimony will continue Friday morning at 8:30 ET. The defense is expected to wrap up their case as early as today, but it could go longer, especially if they end up having Harris testify.
