REPORT: White House Might Be Rewriting Travel Ban Order

With a federal district court putting a temporary restraining order on PresidentĀ Donald Trump‘s travel ban, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding the TRO on Thursday, White House attorneys are working on a new draft of the executive order, a senior administration official told NBC News.

Work on the new draft reportedly started before the Ninth Circuit handed down their decision, even though the administration believed, and still believes, that the original order is legal. Sources close to the President told MSNBC’sĀ Joe Scarborough that a new draft would have language that would be more favorable in the eyes of federal courts.

Trump may still decide to continue the court battle in defense of his order, which called for a temporary ban on refugees entering the United States, and all immigration from seven countries with large Muslim populations. However, if attorneys can settle on new language that the administration believes would be effective, a new executive order could reportedly be signed “very soon.”
