An internal email obtained by Fox News shows that immigration officials urged workers to put in overtime hours to swear in new citizens before the election on November 8. Typically, citizens coming from countries like Mexico tend to lean Democratic. If they vote, that could help boost the Democrats in the 2016 election.

The email was sent by the chief at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Houston Field Office. It was obtained by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis) and sent to the news outlet. The email reads in part:

“The Field Office due to the election year needs to process as many of their N-400 cases as possible between now and FY 2016… If you have cases in this category or other pending, you are encouraged to take advantage of the OT if you can.. This will be an opportunity to move your pending naturalization cases. If you have not volunteered for OT, please consider and let me know if you are interested.”

Fox News does admit that parts of the email chain were redacted. The email also says, “It’s the end of the year crunch time, so let’s get crunchy! Go Team Houston! Thanks for all your hard work!”
