A man in Chicago was shot to death after he demanded an apology from another man for swearing at his sister, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Novajah Ringgold, a 21-year-old father of two, intervened in a dispute between one of his sisters and Trevor Robinson, 23. The dispute was apparently settled after Robinson apologized and the two men shook hands, according to Cook County prosecutors.
But as Robinson was leaving, he reportedly got into an argument with another one of Ringgold’s sisters and began to swear at her, too. At this point, Ringgold stepped in once again, telling Robinson for a second time not to disrespect his sister.
Robinson wasn’t in the mood for second round of apologies, prosecutors said, instead allegedly taking out a handgun and firing on Ringgold multiple times. A second man then reportedly fired at Ringgold as well.
After suffering wounds to his chest, thigh, hip, forearm and back, Ringgold was taken to the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois and eventually pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m. on June 3, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Robinson, who was identified from his Facebook profile picture and arrested during a traffic stop, is currently being held on $2 million bail and facing a first-degree murder charge.
