Cooper, a Democrat, narrowly beat incumbent Republican Governor Pat McCrory during the election last month. McCrory initially challenged the results, before ultimately conceding the race last week.
HB2 was pushed by McCrory and became a national issue, dubbed the ‘Bathroom Law” because it required individuals to use public restrooms corresponding with their sex assigned at birth.
Several major organizations moved planned events form the city, most notably the National Basketball Association (NBA) which refused to hold the All-Star Game in Charlotte, citing HB2.
This is a breaking story and LawNewz will provide additional information as it becomes available.
