The New York Police Department wants your help in finding an armed robber. What did he steal? A car? Someone’s family heirloom from the old country? Nope, just a cigarette, cops say.
A man in a gray hooded sweatshirt allegedly got into a verbal and physical confrontation at a grocery store in the Bronx, according to a Gothamist report. This spilled onto the street, and the man eventually came back inside–this time wielding a black and silver fireman.
Armed with a lethal weapon, the man allegedly demanded one thing: a cigarette. The employee complied with the demand, and the robber fled. No injuries were reported. More importantly: What brand of cigarette are we talking about here? Police were unclear about that. Was it Lucky Strike, with its smooth taste? Was it Newport, imbued with its signature Menthol? Parliament? Benson & Hedges?
Police say the man is about 20 years old, 6’5”, and 150 pounds. He supposedly has brown eyes and black hair, and wears black sneakers, black sweatpants as well as the aforementioned gray sweatshirt. The NYPD would like anyone with information on this robbery to call 800-577-TIPS, head to the NYPD Crime Stoppers page, or text tips to 274637(CRIMES) and then enter TIP577.
