‘Santa’ Handed Out Candy Canes Before Robbing Bank, Police Say

Ho ho ho! Now hand over all your money.

The Memphis Police Department needs help looking for a masked man who they say robbed a bank on Wednesday.

“At approximately 10:00 a.m., a lone male wearing a Santa mask entered the Memphis City Employee Credit Union located at 4135 Elvis Presley,” they reported. It started with him handing out candy canes to employees and customers. Wishing them a Merry Christmas. Things quickly took a not so merry tone.  Apparently, the suspect gave the teller a note demanding money, police say. “Santa” got the money, and walked out of the building. The unidentified man remains on the run.

You can see surveillance footage above.

“The suspect is described as a black male, 5’09”, 150 lbs., wearing a Santa mask, red shirt, black pants, and black shoes,” police say. They want anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
