On Sunday, New York City police arrested the man they say groped and attempted to kill an actress. He allegedly shoved her onto subway tracks after groping her.
Kimani Stephenson is the man who appears on subway station surveillance footage, police say. He could not be reached for comment.
His alleged victim, 22-year-old Bonnie Currie, suffered numerous injuries: a broken wrist, a torn ligament on her left shoulder, and a bruised femur. She told The New York Daily News all about it in a Saturday report.
“It was terrifying and unreal,” Currie said from her bed in Lenox Hill Hospital, awaiting surgery for her wrist. She said she was at the F train platform at 14th St. and Sixth Ave., around 4:20 a.m. Friday morning, after leaving a bar and making her way to the 1 train.
Her attacker came at her suddenly.
“This guy, he came up behind me and he grabbed one of my boobs with one hand, and he grabbed my vagina. I told him to f–k off, and he pushed me onto the train tracks,” she said, and claims the attacker always meant to push her off the platform.
“There was no train coming, thank God,” she said. “I keep playing the scenario over in my head. There weren’t any MTA police on that particular track, so I don’t know what I would have done if there hadn’t been bystanders.”
She credits two men and a woman for pulling her off the tracks because her broken wrist made it impossible to get herself out.
Currie has performed in Off-Broadway productions, and also works as a waitress. She said she’ll take self-defense classes after she heals.
