It’s gubernatorial campaign season in the state of Georgia and it’s pretty clear where Republican candidate Sen. Michael Williams falls on the immigration issue. All you have to do is take a look at his bus that says, “Fill this bus with illegals vote Michael Williams!”
“Hi, I’m Michael Williams and, boy, do we have some exciting news for you,” he said. “We have our bus tour ready to go, but it’s not going to be one of those pansy, political bus tours.”
“We’ve got the ‘Deportation Bus.’ That’s right, you heard me. The Michael Williams ‘Deportation Bus,'” he continued.
“[F]ill this bus with illegals to send them back to where they came from,” he said. “We’re not just going to track them and watch them roam around our state. We’re going to put them on this bus and send ‘em home.”
On the side of the bus, the words “pro-Trump” can be seen. Williams also channeled the president at the back of the bus: “Stay back 1,000 feet. DANGER! Murderers, rapists, kidnappers, child molestors [sic], and other criminals on board.”
“Follow me to Mexico,” it says.
The “Deportation Bus Tour” bus is an extreme visual representation of one of Williams’ policy goals, which is stated on his website as follows:
Get Serious About Illegal ImmigrationImplement the 287(g) Deportation Program statewide. Counties that refuse to comply will lose state funding. Without 287(g), we have no way of knowing when illegals are committing crimes and being sent back into our communities. If we are going to get serious about this problem, we need 287(g).
287(g) is a program involving cooperation between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and state or local law enforcement. The way it works, according to ICE, is that local or state law enforcement “enter into a partnership with ICE, under a joint Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), in order to receive delegated authority for immigration enforcement within their jurisdictions.”
Law&Crime has reached out to Williams for comment about the bus, but he has yet to respond.
