Breaking: Now we know why the Cookie Monster is so amped. A Key West man was arrested early Wednesday morning after cocaine was discovered inside a doll of the Sesame Street character. Camus McNair, 39, was booked on one count each of trafficking, and possession of drugs.
Just after midnight, the arresting deputy noticed a black Dodge passenger driving “with the license plate obscured,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. The windows were tinted so dark he couldn’t see who was inside.
Cue traffic stop. The deputy identified the driver as McNair, and could smell marijuana coming from inside the Dodge. He discovered a backpack during the search. It had a Cookie Monster doll.
The deputy “noticed the doll seemed to weigh more than it should have,” the MCSO said. “He took a closer look and found a slit cut in the doll. Inside the doll were two packages containing what turned out to be a total of 314 grams of cocaine.”
As of Thursday morning, McNair remains locked up in lieu of $7000 bond, according to Monroe County jail records obtained by LawNewz.com.
