The child was watching a video of the Grinch on a smartphone, and reported the crime to local police. Officer Lauren Develle with the Byram, Mississippi Police Department responded to the scene, assuring Tylon that the holiday was not in danger. Develle grew up watching the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” so when she heard about Tylon’s call, she wanted to meet him.
“I kind of find it really funny… Every Christmas morning, my dad wears these Grinch pants,” she said with a smile on Sunday. “It’s his favorite movie. Growing up seeing the Grinch every Christmas was my favorite thing.”
Tylon’s mother Teresa Brown-Pittman told local WLBT that her son “calls people all the time,” but she was shocked that he called 911. “If he gets your number, he’s going to call you and blow you up; but to dial 911, oh my God, no.”
Police were in the holiday spirit and played along, inviting Tylon to the stationhouse, where he got to arrest someone in a full Grinch costume and place him in a holding cell.
